Pilates Review: Nouva Pilates, London

Pilates studios have been popping up across London like mushrooms after the rain, and we honestly can’t keep up.
After trying a good number of them, we put together our Top 5 favourites (which you can read here), but our hunt is far from over. We’re always curious to explore new spaces — because who knows, the next one might just steal our hearts.
One of our recent stops was Nouva Pilates, a women-only studio tucked just off King’s Road, super practical if you're based in Chelsea or nearby. The studio is small but thoughtfully designed, with one room housing just 8 reformer beds. This setup gives the classes a semi-private feel, allowing for more individual attention from the instructor, which we always appreciate.

The class started off gentle and mellow, perfect if you're easing back into movement or looking for something less intense than, say, Megaformer workouts. Things picked up a bit in the second half, and we did work up a light sweat. That said, we didn’t feel we reached our full potential. Maybe it was just that particular class, but if they’re all like that, it might not be the best fit for anyone seeking a truly challenging session.
The highlight? The instructor. Warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive — we’d go back just to take another class with her.
The downside? Unfortunately, the reformer machines were a letdown. They felt a bit flimsy, the springs lacked tension, and the plastic eyelets made attaching them more fiddly than it should be. When you're paying for a professional studio experience, you expect equipment to match, not something that feels like it came from a wholesale catalogue.
One more thing to note: the sign-up process asked for more personal information than we’re used to. Compared to other studios in London, it felt a little too invasive, something to keep in mind if you're particular about data privacy.
Overall, Nouva Pilates has potential, especially if you’re looking for a calm, women-only space in a central location. But if you're chasing high-energy workouts with top-tier equipment, this one might not be for you.
Nouva is available on ClassPass, or you can buy a class pack or sign up for a membership directly through their website.
