We’re back with our second London edition of Overhyped or Hidden Gem, because one round clearly wasn’t enough. In the age of social media, countless spots are overhyped for the sake of views alone and in today’s economy, wasting money on mediocre food just isn’t an option. Agreed?

Carbone London has been one of the most talked-about and hardest reservations to secure in the city. You’d think the hype is justified — but clearly, it isn’t. The intense over-marketing and manufactured exclusivity might make it feel exciting at first, but eventually people will tire of chasing a table, and the buzz will fade. But is it actually worth it? Let’s take a look:

Stepping into Beirut sometimes feels like stepping into a parallel universe — one where $10 coffees and $12 matchas are completely normal, and no one even blinks. Stay for a week and suddenly you stop blinking too. You just go with it. Is it normal? Not really. Do people still pay for it? Absolutely.

I might be the only person on earth who finds the River Cafe incredibly overrated: but Canteen 310 turned out to be everything I had hoped the River Cafe would be, and even better.
